John Wick Star, Lance Reddick Dies Aged 60

Lance Reddick, a prominent HBO series The Wire actor, has died at the age of 60, according to US media agencies.

Reddick was also well-known for his role as Charon in the John Wick action-thriller film series.

According to his publicist, the singer and actor died unexpectedly of natural causes on Friday in his Los Angeles home.

According to the publicist, police were summoned to the actor’s home about 09:30 local time (16:30 GMT).

“Lance will be deeply missed,” Mia Hansen, his publicist, said in a statement. “Please respect his family’s privacy at this time.”

Reddick was in the midst of a publicity trip for the fourth installment of the John Wick franchise, which is set to be released on March 24.

He will also feature in the forthcoming John Wick spinoff Ballerina, which will star Ana de Armas.

Over his 25-year acting career, Reddick, a native of Baltimore, participated in over a dozen films and television programs.

In the John Wick films, he played Charon, the hotel concierge of The Continental Hotel, a New York criminal underground nexus. He appeared in the first film, its two sequels, and is slated to feature in the fourth.

The actor was well recognized for his breakthrough role as Baltimore police lieutenant Cedric Daniels in The Wire, a series that aired from 2002 to 2008 and portrayed the city’s narcotics scene from the perspectives of law enforcement, drug dealers, and consumers.

The actor took to his Instagram page on 22nd March, to announce the joyous news. Still, in that moment of celebration, he became a year older.

Amapiano has spiked the Nigerian Music industry to the top of both national and International charts since 2020.

The top digital music streaming service, Spotify is hosting media and influencers from across the continent on an Amapiano Tourism experience in celebration of Amapiano. It aims to share the roots of the genre, the influence of collaborations and how streaming assists in exporting local music to the world.

This tour is in partnership with South African Tourism and begins with ‘Amapiano 101‘– talks about the background and gives guests a ride of its origins in townships like Mamelodi but also exploring other popular Amapiano spots in Soweto. Guests from different countries like; Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and South Africa were in attendance.

Furthermore, the ‘Amapiano Grooves‘ segment was highlighted which exhibits the impact of clubs on music.

Managing Director for Spotify in Sub-Saharan Africa, Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy spoke on this; “Amapiano’s unique sound and infectious beats have captivated audiences around the world, and are sure to keep fans dancing for years to come. As more artists emerge and push the boundaries of the genre, there is no doubt that Amapiano is set to become a mainstay in the global music scene.”

According to Spotify’s data, their listeners on Spotify enjoy tuning into the genre on weekday afternoons, with Friday evening peaks. ‘Amapiano Grooves‘, which is Spotify’s biggest Amapiano playlist, is most popular among 18-24-year-olds. And listeners hail from South Africa, Zimbabwe, the United Kingdom, the USA, Mozambique and Botswana.
