Bola Tinubu, the presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has cautioned people against mentioning Funke Akindele, the deputy governor aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in his presence.
Tinubu made this cautioning on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at a political outing in Lagos when his supporters sang a campaign song, describing Akindele as a political ‘ant’ compared to his anointed candidate Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the governorship election in Lagos.
“Who is Funke Akindele before Sanwo-Olu of Lagos? She is an ant,” the supporters sang.
Replying to the supporters disdainfully, Tinubu stated: “Don’t even bother to mention her name in my presence. It is an insult. It is disrespectful.”
Nigerians knock Tinubu for looking down on Funke Akindele
Many Nigerians, who took to Twitter to react to Tinubu’s statement about Akindele, faulted the former Lagos governor, saying he reached below the bet with such remarks.
“Funke Akindele has been receiving backlash from all folks of life : women , men and even Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reached bellow belt I guess there’s a price to pay for being a woman and wanting to pursue a political career . God be with her,” @mavisikpeme wrote.
‘‘If Oluomo is mentioned in your presence, and you are excited, then you should kiss the ground if Funke Akindele is mentioned in your presence. You surrounded yourself with despicable characters and speak like God. Watch it!” @ogwuche12638676 wrote.

Look at how contemptuous he speaks about a woman whose only wrong was to try to engage in Politics. Nigeria women must take a stand in the coming election”
