An actress, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, who was seen showering large amounts of new naira notes at a party has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The suspect violated Section 21(5) of the CBN Act, announcing the start of an investigation, according to the law enforcement agency.

“Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have commenced an investigation of Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, an actress and cosmetologist, or allegedly tampering with the redesigned Naira notes, an offense contrary to Section 21 (5) of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Act, 2007,” EFCC statement read.

Following an intelligence tip, Omoseyin was apprehended on February 1, 2023, along Awolowo Road in Ikoyi, Lagos, by agents of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Fraud Related Offences Commission, or ICPC.

The statement continued; “The 31-year-old was arrested after the video of her spraying and stepping on the newly redesigned Naira notes at a party surfaced online. In the viral video, she was also seen flaunting wads of the new Naira notes.”

The suspect was then turned over to the EFCC on February 2, 2023, following her detention, for additional investigation. A Range Rover and an iPhone were among the items found on her at the scene of the arrest.

She will be charged to court once investigations have been concluded, EFCC revealed.

INTERPOL Nigeria has disclosed why the Federal Government has refused to repatriate Diezani Alison-Madueke over corruption charges and a trial.

This was revealed by Garba Umar, Assistant Inspector-General of Police and Head of INTERPOL Nigeria’s National Central Bureau, who said that the British Government denied the request to extradite the former minister.

Diezani is being investigated for an alleged loss of over $2.4bn in revenue from the Illegal sale of 48 Million Barrels of Crude in 2015 Including Crude Oil Exports from 2014 Till Date.

The ex-minister also went to court in the UK to obstruct the process, according to the AIG, who was being questioned by committee members.

The Nigerian government used the proper channels to request reciprocal legal aid from the UK.

In response to inquiries from the parliamentarians, Umar clarified why the action was successful in the instances of Bello Adoke, a former Attorney-General of the Federation, and Abdulrasheed Maina, a former Chairman of the disbanded Pension Reform Task Team.

“In respect of assistance – seeking for assistance, if you remember, we repatriated many Nigerians who were alleged to have swindled the Nigerian Government. I went personally and brought Maina from the Republic of Niger.

“I brought the former Attorney-General of the Federation from Dubai and many other Nigerians who absconded. We brought them back to face justice and those who are in Nigeria, hiding, we took them back to their various countries to face justice,” he said.

The United States Diplomatic Mission in Nigeria has mourned the passing of late Emir of Dutse, Jigawa State, Dr. Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi.

The organization paid tribute to the traditional leader in a social media post and noted that he was an enthusiastic advocate for cultural preservation and education.

“With sadness, we received news of the passing of Dr. Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi, Emir of Dutse. We remember Dr. Sanusi for his contributions to Nigeria & its relations with the U.S.

“He was an ardent supporter of education and cultural preservation. Our sincere condolences to his family,” the post read.

Recall that Nuhu Muhammad-Sanusi, 79, passed away on Monday in an undisclosed Abuja hospital.

Between 1952 and 1959, the late Mr. Muhammad-Sanusi attended Birnin Kudu Senior Primary School and Dutse Elementary School. Following that, he was granted admission to Kano Teachers College.

Later, in 1967, he was granted admittance to Advanced Teachers College. Nuhu Sanusi also studied at Ohio University in the USA, where he earned his MBA in 1974 and a BSc in Business Education in 1972.

From Bradford University in England, he obtained an MSc in Project Analysis & Evaluation in 1977.

In 1989, he was chosen to serve in the constituent assembly. Between 1992 and 1995, he held the usual positions of district head of Dutse and senior counselor in the emirate council.
