Who is Ladipo Johnson?

Johnson is the president of the African Institute of Enterprise Development and Management.

He is also the convener of ‘The Johnson Initiative for Positive Impact,’ which had earlier faulted the Federal Government’s economic policies, stating that they enslave Nigerians.

The NNPP-selected running mate has called on Nigerians to wake up from their slumber and take positive steps that could rescue the nation from further slide amidst the prevailing yoke of poverty.

LP-NNPP Merger;

Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Saturday an interview with BBC Hausa, disclosed that his party was negotiating a possible alliance with the Labour Party leadership and its candidate, Peter Obi.

He also stated that if the merger pulls through, the selected President will be selected based on seniority.

He also added that the decision could be also left to the leaders of both parties.

“Merging with the Labour Party is very significant at this critical moment, especially when you consider the fact that both the APC and PDP and APC presidential candidates did not pick their running mates from the South-East.

“Because of this, if we don’t take someone from that region, it confirms that we won’t have any arrangement for the South-East in both the presidency or vice presidency in the 2023 elections.”

Sarkin Sullubawa: Buhari Sympathizes With Family Of Late Kaita District Head

The Supreme Court has struck out the suit by President Muhammadu Buhari and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami seeking to void the provision of Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act 2022.

In a judgment on Friday, June 24, 2022, a seven-member panel of the apex court, headed by Justice Musa Dattijo Mohammed, was unanimous in holding that Buhari, having participated in the making of the law by assenting to it, could not turn around to fault its provisions.

The court, which upheld the objections raised by the National Assembly and other defendants against the suit, declined to determine it on the merit but declared that the Supreme Court lacked the jurisdiction to hear it and that the suit was an abuse of the court process.

Justice Emmanuel Agim, in the lead judgment, held that it was an attack on the democratic principle of Separation of Powers for the President to seek to direct/request the Legislature to make a particular law or alter any law.

The President lacks the power to direct the National Assembly to amend or enact an act..it violates the principle of separation of powers.

There is no part of the Constitution that makes the exercise of legislative powers subject to the directive of the President,” the court stated.

Why Nnamdi Kanu Can't Be Granted Bail Again -Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) would not be granted bail considering his history with that.

Speaking at a bilateral meeting with the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, on the margins of the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali, Rwanda, Buhari said Kanu had previously jumped bail, adding that he can no longer be granted such privilege.

On notions that Kanu was not allowed to see his lawyers privately, the President said the detained separatist is being given every opportunity under the law “to justify all the uncomplimentary things he said against Nigeria while he was in Britain.

He felt very safe in Britain and said awful things against Nigeria. We eventually got him when he stepped out of the United Kingdom, and we sent him to court. Let him defend all that he said there.

“His (Kanu’s) lawyers have access to him. Remember he jumped bail before, how are we sure he won’t do it again if he’s admitted to bail?
