Burna Boy Hints At Next Album Release Date

Nigerian Singer, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has hinted at the release date of his next album.

The Grammy-winning artist spoke with Trevor Noah on The Daily Show, when he hinted that his forthcoming body of work is underway.

The television host had asked Burna Boy when his next album was going to be released but did not get a direct answer from the artist.

“It’s going to come out on a day everyone celebrates for themselves when it’s their own day,” Burna Boy replied.

Puzzled by the reply, Noah asked. “Okay, I don’t know what that means but I feel it. You have just left me with a riddle to figure out. I’m like, is it a Friday, is it a birthday, is it a Sunday?”

The Afrobeats singer still did not give a direct date on the next album released but dropped a hit for the comedian in front of fans.

Burna Boy added. “It’s not what you do. It’s not everybody in the world that has a job you know. But this, everybody, has it. Everybody has a day to celebrate.”

Burna Boy emerged in the early part of the 2010s as one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising stars. Breaking out in 2012 with his 2012 single titled “Like to Party”.

The singer has already released 5 studio albums, with his “Twice as Tall” album snatching him a Grammy for the Best Global Music Album.

His debut Burna studio album L.I.F.E was released on 12 August 2013, selling 40,000 copies on the first day of its release.

Burna Boy has become the first African artist to sell out the Madison Square Garden in New York for his headline concert scheduled for Thursday.

According to a scoop review, the African Giant’s hinted album will have top artists, with Ed Sheeran rumoring to be amongst them.

Last-Last: Burna Boy Mocks Davido, As His Songs Tops Nigeria's Apple Chart

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Burna Boy, has mocked rival Davido, after his new song, Last-Last tops Apple Chart Nigeria.

The Grammy winner via a tweet, posted an emoji laughing, alongside a screenshot of his song ahead of Davido’s Stand Strong.

This, many fans see as a reply to Davido who earlier wrote “And they call me 001”, after his song initially topped.

Burna Boy had announced that his new song, “Last-Last”, off his next album, “Love, Damini”, will be released on May 13th.

His announcement came a few hours after Davido announced his first song, “Stand Strong”, off his next album to be released on the same date.

Recall, Burna Boy, had earlier hinted at the release date of his next album when he spoke with Trevor Noah on The Daily Show, stating that his forthcoming body of work is underway.

“It’s going to come out on a day everyone celebrates for themselves when it’s their own day,” Burna Boy said.

Bad Comments: Amazon Acquires Jim Iyke’s Movie

Popular American television, Amazon Studios, has acquired Jim Iyke’s latest movie production “Bad Comments”

According to the award-winning actor, the movie was produced as a way to address social media trolling.

“The social media space isn’t being utilized positively and this is tragic. Social Media is supposed to be a space where people can find their dreams and shortcuts to exhibit what they really are. Jim Iyke earlier explained when asked about his movie.

‘‘It’s become cool to project cruelty and hatred online and Bad comments speak to this, we hope to show some of the perils of social media, we worked hard on a powerful production which has something for everyone.”

The deal by Amazon would make the social impact centered movie, the highest negotiation so far in the African movie industry.

The movie which has made waves both in Nigeria and internationally is also an official selection for the 17th Edition of the Harlem International Film Festival (The people’s film festival) slated for May 5th -15th, 2022.

The Harlem Festival is an annual festival in Harlem, New York that celebrates films from around the world.

The highly acclaimed film was released in August 2021 starring Jim Iyke, Ayo Makun, Osas Ighodaro, Yemi Blaq, Sharon Ooja, Chiwetel Agu, Patience Ozokwor, Ruggedman, Ini Edo, Timaya, and a host of others.

To celebrate the amazing feat of the deal with the online retailing giant,  the author, and serial entrepreneur hosted an Amazon release watch party with his fans, guests, and the Nollywood industry last week.

Jim Iyke has also announced his soon-to-be-released TV series;Sin“.
