Tinubu Donates N50m To Zamfara Insecurity Victims

Former Lagos governor Bola Tinubu has donated N50 million to victims of insecurity in Zamfara State.

Tinubu disclosed his donation to the state’s communities recently attacked by bandits after he commiserated with Governor Bello Matawalle in Gusau, the state capital.

His words: “I could offer prayers for the people from anywhere, but coming in person is important.

The enemies of knowledge, Boko Haram, and other criminal elements will be defeated through commitment in humanity.

We pray for the entire country to be stable and if the enemies refuse to stop the carnage, we shall eliminate them.

“We believe in President Muhammadu Buhari’s ability to restore law and order and bring back our country to stability and tracks of development.

Receiving the donations, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara described the chieftain of the ruling-All Progressives Congress (APC) as a doyen of contemporary Nigerian politics, a dedicated leader, and a bridge-builder.

He also cited Tinubu as someone who had spent the past 23 years of the nation’s democracy fostering unity, nurturing, and raising individuals who had equally distinguished themselves in various spheres of human endeavour in contemporary Nigeria.

The governor noted that the problem of banditry in the state had persisted for over a decade.

Matawalle said: “When I assumed office in 2019, I made it my utmost priority to address this issue as no meaningful development could be accomplished in an atmosphere of insecurity.

Considering the reality that the conflict is tied to ethnic fault lines, I initiated a dialogue and reconciliation programme, which leaders of thought overwhelmingly accepted all over the state.

As a result of our programme of dialogue and reconciliation, hostilities ceased for a period of over nine months.

Hundreds of kidnapped persons were unconditionally released by their captors.

Tinubu donated the N50 million to Zamfara insecurity victims four days after making his intention to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari known.

Organ Harvesting: House Of Reps. To Intercede For Ekweremadu

House of Representatives has moved to intercede on the behalf of the former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who is in United Kingdom custody for alleged organ harvesting.

Disclosing this, the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, on a motion of urgent public importance revealed that he had discussed with the Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, for a quick investigation into the case.

“I have spoken with the Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, Sharafa Ishola, who has been extremely proactive in this matter and I expressed the need for him to continue to avail Senator Ekweremadu with all the necessary assistance that he will need to prove his case. Gbajabiamila said.

“I think this should be heightened as well to the UK Parliament. I would try and get in touch with the Speaker of the Parliament whom I was opportune to meet with and had fruitful discussions with just a couple of months ago. I believe the Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Buba Yusuf, should also get in touch with his foreign affairs counterpart in the UK Parliament.

“So, it is important that we apply diplomatic pressure. Nigeria has very strong diplomatic ties with the United Kingdom and all those areas must be explored. I wish the Senator and his family well. We cannot imagine what they are going through at this time.”

Recall, that on June 23, 2022, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, were arrested in the United Kingdom (UK), after conspiring to arrange the travel of a child in a desperate bid to harvest organs.
