Orji Kalu Visits Nnamdi Kanu In DSS Custody

The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu, said he visited the leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Kalu, in a statement personally signed by him and made available to our correspondent in Abuja, said the IPOB leader was in good health and under proper care.

The former governor of Abia State added that he spoke with Kanu as a brother and told him the need to consider the consequences of certain actions that he would be taking.

Kalu said, “This afternoon, I visited my brother, Maazi Nnamdi Kanu in DSS custody, Abuja.

I met him in good health and care and we discussed as ‘Umunne’.

In 2001 when I was Governor, I made his father Eze Israel Okwu Kanu, the traditional ruler of Akwara Ukwu and since then the family has been very close to me.

I understand that Nnamdi has an insane amount of people rooting for his back home and I encouraged him to consider the consequences of certain actions and utterances for the sake of the same people.

Even though my ideology and his ideology are totally different, God has made us brothers and we can’t run away from each other.

I owe him and Nigerians good counselling whether he and his family listen to me or not.

“I will continue to counsel him as I have always done in the past. What we need most is a peaceful and secured society.

Organ Harvesting: House Of Reps. To Intercede For Ekweremadu

House of Representatives has moved to intercede on the behalf of the former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who is in United Kingdom custody for alleged organ harvesting.

Disclosing this, the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, on a motion of urgent public importance revealed that he had discussed with the Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, for a quick investigation into the case.

“I have spoken with the Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, Sharafa Ishola, who has been extremely proactive in this matter and I expressed the need for him to continue to avail Senator Ekweremadu with all the necessary assistance that he will need to prove his case. Gbajabiamila said.

“I think this should be heightened as well to the UK Parliament. I would try and get in touch with the Speaker of the Parliament whom I was opportune to meet with and had fruitful discussions with just a couple of months ago. I believe the Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Buba Yusuf, should also get in touch with his foreign affairs counterpart in the UK Parliament.

“So, it is important that we apply diplomatic pressure. Nigeria has very strong diplomatic ties with the United Kingdom and all those areas must be explored. I wish the Senator and his family well. We cannot imagine what they are going through at this time.”

Recall, that on June 23, 2022, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, were arrested in the United Kingdom (UK), after conspiring to arrange the travel of a child in a desperate bid to harvest organs.
