Police Explain Reason For Tonto Dikeh’s ex-lover, Prince Kpokpogiri's Arrest

The police have explained that one Prince Kpokpogri, the estranged lover of Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, was arrested for attempting to cause a breach of the peace at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Maitama, Abuja, on Monday, October 18, 2021.

The suspect was said to have visited the luxury hotel with two police guards in a bid to retrieve a Lexus SUV parked by Dikeh, who lodged there.

He allegedly blocked the vehicle with his car and when cautioned, his police escort reportedly threatened to shoot a female worker of the hotel.

The hotel management subsequently invited the police who whisked all the parties to the Federal Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.

Confirming this development, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, FCIID, Joseph Egbunike, said he directed a Commissioner of Police to arrest Kpokpogri following reports of a threatening situation at the hotel.

According to him, the police escorts were being detained for failing to bring the situation at the hotel under control, adding that Kpokpogri has been released on bail.

Dikeh and her erstwhile lover have been trending in the news lately following their messy break-up with the latter accusing the actress of promiscuity while she described him as a blackmailer.

The DIG dismissed reports that he arrested Kpokpogri to please Tonto Dikeh.

He stated, “I only met the suspect and complainant for the first time yesterday (Monday); I don’t know where they came from. It has to do with the criminal issue that happened at Transcorp Hilton Hotel. We went there to do a threat analysis that somebody was trying to cause a situation there.

“So, I sent my commissioner to go and bring them only to be surprised to see the two parties. We interviewed them and detained my policemen who were there and could not contain the situation. They are in the cell now. I know by today, everybody must have calmed down and reflected on what they did and what they did not do.”

Egbunike added, “The suspect has been released on bail, he is entitled to bail. Besides, the matter we are treating is the disturbance of public space, not the other one of their relationship which another commissioner is treating. All those things would be resolved by the commissioner handling the matter.

“When a matter is subsisting at the police station, there is no need of taking matters into your hands. If the matter has been concluded and you are not satisfied, you make your case. But when you go to a public space and there’s panic, we’ll have no choice but to step in.”

Navy Reveals Why Cute Abiola Was Arrested

The Nigerian Navy has placed one of its personnel, OSCOMP Abdulgafar Ahmad, otherwise known as Cute Abiola, on one-month ‘extra duty’ for wearing a police uniform in one of his skits and for ridiculing the Nigeria Police Force in the process.

The popular Instagram comedian was arrested on Monday, November 15, 2021, but has been released from detention to serve his ‘light corrective punishment’ in the cantonment.

Ahmad, 25, is expected to end his punishment by December 15, 2021, when he would be allowed to return home to his family.

Naval spokesperson, Commodore Suleman Dahun, confirmed the development, saying the comedian was given a light punishment of a ‘one-month extra duty’ after a military trial.

Dahun said, “Cute Abiola has been placed on one-month extra duty after he was tried. He will be in charge of cleanship; supervising painting, electricians, carpentry, cutting of grasses, and others. He will be supervising civilians.

He is no longer under detention. He has been released to move around to serve his punishment.

Because he was detained on November 15, that one month will start counting from then, which means he is going to be engaged till December 15. By then, he will be off the extra duty.

A military source, who spoke on the matter, explained that an extra duty means that the comedian is the “Minister of Works in the Barracks” for the period of the punishment.

Spotify Launches Ad Studio In Nigeria, Others

Spotify, a music streaming service provider, has launched a self-serve advertising platform, Ad Studio, in Jamaica, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The innovative advertising medium has been made available to even more artists around the globe.

Christopher Li, Director of Digital Planning and Products at Live Nation and Spotify Ad Studio, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

Li said Ad Studio is a tool on the Spotify platform that allows artists, brands, and businesses to easily run audio and video adverts.

He said advertisers can create a campaign within minutes, and the platform provides flexibility and control to set up and manage campaigns in real-time.

” Never made an audio ad? Spotify makes it easy, you can build a custom audio ad for free, right in Ad Studio, in as little as 24 hours,” he said.

Li said Spotify had already launched Ad Studio in other markets, including America and Europe, and looked forward to the impact this will have in emerging markets like Sub-Saharan Africa, where audio streaming is on the rise.

He noted that in order to advertise with this tool, advertisers needed to spend a minimum of N100,000.

According to him, Ad Studio provides advertisers with free audio creation tools including background music mixing, voiceover talent, audience targeting, and real-time reporting.

” Reaching audiences with Spotify Ad Studio is efficient and easy, you can decide to target listeners by genre preferences, interests, and context.

“It only takes us a few minutes to create a campaign, and the free voiceover service saves a lot of effort too,” he said.

As the world leader in audio streaming, Spotify brings music and podcasts to nearly 365 million users in 184 markets, across hundreds of devices.

This is where young people are — and where young people go, marketers follow, 71 percent of Spotify free listeners are under 35 and the median age of podcast listeners is 27.

In Nigeria alone, over 100 million citizens are active internet users. Of this number, 57.9 percent use music apps- up from 54 percent last year.

The median age in this market is 18, meaning that the majority of smartphone users are Gen-Z.

Similar to Ghana and Kenya, the Gen-Z market is increasing, and many young people are streaming audio.

The launch of Ad Studio is another way Spotify is leading the way in audio innovation globally and providing advertisers with the opportunity to grow their audiences in these emerging markets.
