Pandemonium In Lagos Community As Sex Worker Killed Trader

Pandemonium broke out at FESTAC Town in the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, as a sex worker Precious killed Sunday Emmanuel, a trader.

It was gathered that the sex worker slit Emmanuel’s stomach with a blade, after which he passed away.

Precious usually visited the spot at odd hours in search of customers.

A car marketer, who identified himself only as Buchi, said in the early hours of  Wednesday, September 1, 2021, an argument ensued between her and Emmanuel.

Buchi added that the argument degenerated into a fight, as Precious brought out a blade and slit the stomach of the 32-year-old.

He said, “After perpetrating the crime, she boarded a motorcycle to escape. The guy who was attacked ran after her, but the injuries made him fall and he died, because his intestines came out.

“People thought she had escaped. But the motorcyclist, who witnessed the attack on Emmanuel, rode her to the FESTAC Police Station and handed her over to a policeman. I don’t know what caused the fight between her and the man.”

The Manager of De Haven Hotel, Lucky, stated that the motorcyclist informed him about the incident.

His words: “After he told me, I stepped out and saw a lot of people at the scene, which is opposite our hotel. The motorcyclist informed me because he knew the police might want to hold the hotel responsible for the death. He also wanted me to ensure that the police treated the case properly.

“When I got to the station, I saw the girl; she is a sex worker, and was not remorseful about what she did. Even when she was handcuffed, she was still not remorseful, until when they were transferring the case and she was told that she might never come back.

“The incident did not happen in the hotel, but opposite the hotel and my only saving grace was the motorcyclist who took her to the station and informed me. I learnt that she was taken to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Yaba.”

Flood Claims 4, Destroy Properties In Lugbe, FCT - FEMA

Four residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have lost their lives to floods.

The FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said it established this in the course of its rescue operations which lasted between Sept.12 and Sept. 13.

“FEMA has established, in the course of rescue operations which began from 9 p.m. of Sept. 12 up to Sept. 13, that four persons lost their lives to the floods and the recovered bodies have been taken away by family members for burial.

“Also, over 26 vehicles, including an articulated towing van, were swept away by the flood, besides a tarred road in Trademoore Estate which was completely washed away as a result of the strength of the floodwater,“ he said.

The FEMA boss said a total of166 houses were affected,  noting that the agency was still estimating the losses suffered by residents as a result of the floods.

Idriss conveyed the deepest sympathies of the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammed Bello, to the residents and families of those who were killed.

He appealed to FCT residents, especially developers, to desist from violating the approved building codes.

“We are also appealing to them to stop erecting retention walls to protect stormwater from flowing. By doing so they are causing more havoc to the community,“ he said.

Idriss advised that as the FCT enters the final phase of the rainy season, in which the rain is at its peak, residents should avoid dumping refuse in drainages.

He also advised them to clear all surrounding drainages and other blockages that obstruct the free flow of water.

The D-G enjoined residents to avoid driving or walking through floodwaters.

He also called on those living along river banks to relocate to higher ground when threatened by floods.
