CSR: Ikeja Electric Partners DashMe Foundation to Support the Needy

Nigeria’s leading Electricity Distribution Company, Ikeja Electric (IE), has partnered with DashMe Foundation, in a philanthropic alliance that seeks to mobilize its workforce and resources towards donating to support charity.

DashMe Foundation is a non-profit charity organisation, which aims to change lives, one gift at a time, by creatively raising funds and awareness for grassroot charities in Africa,

Speaking on the partnership, IE’s Head of Corporate Communications, Felix Ofulue said the partnership with DashMe Foundation is in alignment with the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals.

According to him; “The rationale behind mobilization of our staff to support this noble cause is to leverage our CSR platform which promotes the culture of giving back to communities in which we operate.”

He noted that the existing giveback culture in Ikeja Electric has helped to impact lives positively within the company’s network. “We are very confident that this collaboration with DashMe Foundation will further contribute to strengthening support to the needy and underserved communities, which is a positive change as well”, he said.

Giving further insight on the donation drive, Ofulue said in celebration of this year’s International Charity Day, employees of the company are encouraged to voluntarily donate their neatly used clothes, books and other household items, which are expected to be put on sale at the DashMe Foundation stores and proceeds donated to charity.

On her part, the Chief Operating Officer, DashMe Foundation, Morinsola Arogundade explained that DashMe Stores business model relies on strategic partnerships with the

staff of corporate Nigeria and that the partnership with Ikeja Electric is another key step in the mission

“With our donation points in key Ikeja Electric outlets, we look forward to collections in the Ikeja area as well as enhanced sales due to increased awareness, in our short operational history, we have been able to operate profitably and regularly fund work with orphanages, vulnerable children, disadvantaged youth and victims of domestic violence in line with our mission”, she said.

Arogundade expressed the Foundation’s gratitude to the Directors, Staff and Customers of Ikeja Electric with the hope of a better and interminable partnership.

Over the years, Ikeja Electric remains dedicated to integrating CSR strategies across all aspects of its business through the provision of life impacting and self-empowerment programmes, in a bid to create a positive and critical impact in the communities where it operates.

Pandemonium In Delta As 3-storey Building Collapsed

Pandemonium broke out in Amacha community, Okpanam, in the Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, as a three-storey building collapsed.

The building, which according to multiple reports, was under construction, collapsed in the late hours of Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

An eyewitness accounted that the building collapsed after a heavy downpour in the area, adding that the workers had left the site as well when the unfortunate incident happened.

As they were coming to site this morning (Thursday) to continue their work, they saw that the building had collapsed,” he added.

However, while a few people sustained minor injuries, Delta state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe said no life was lost in the collapse.

Ekweremadu, Wife Arrested In UK For Trying To Harvest Child's Organs

Former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, 60, and his wife, Beatrice, have been arrested in the United Kingdom (UK), after conspiring to arrange the travel of a child in a desperate bid to harvest organs.

Disclosing this incident, Metropolitan Police said the duo was arrested following an investigation by the force’s specialist crime team.

According to the police, the Ekweremadus who had been remanded in custody would appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court later on Thursday, June 23, 2022.

The investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022.

The Met said the child is being safeguarded and the force is working closely with partners to provide support.

Man Sentenced To Prison For Stealing Pot Of Soup

A man identified as Isaac Dumabara has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of stealing a pot of soup.

An Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, jailed the 23-year-old for a period of one month, for stealing the pot of soup valued at N40,000 from a restaurant.

Magistrate S. A Adesina, who found Dumabara guilty of theft, sentenced him without an option of a fine.

Police prosecutor, Sikiru Ibrahim, told the court that Damubara also stole three gas cylinders, stabiliser, and a pair of Adidas shoes from Pleasure Summit Restaurant, Magara Road, Iyaganku, Ibadan.

Ibrahim further told the court that the convict stole a 42-inch TV worth N200,000.
