Ellen DeGeneres Discloses Plan To End Her Daytime Talk Show

American comedian and TV host, Ellen DeGeneres has disclosed her plan to end her daytime talk show.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter where she made this known, DeGeneres said The Ellen DeGeneres Show was no longer a challenge for her.

“When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged — and as great as this show is, and as fun, as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore,” she stated.

Going by her disclosure, The Ellen DeGeneres Show will officially end after the upcoming 2021-22 season.

DeGeneres has hosted the series since 2003, meaning the show will have run for 19 seasons by the time it ends.

The show has however been a major fixture of the daytime TV landscape throughout its run and has even inspired a number of spinoffs. Those include shows like –Ellen’s Game of Games, The Masked Dancer, Family Game Fight, and Ellen’s Greatest Night of Giveaways.”

The move to end the series is not altogether unsurprising, as DeGeneres’ current contract ends in 2022. Although, there had been rumours when she extended her contract in 2019 that she was planning to end the series at that time, though she ultimately signed for another three years.

Fans Drag Tope Alabi For Criticising Song

Popular gospel singer, Tope Alabi has become a subject of attack on social media, after criticising ‘Oniduro’, a song composed by Bola Are and popularised by Yinka Alaseyori and Sola Allyson.

In a viral social media video, Alabi said the song is not inspirational, as she claimed that it is wrong to call God a guarantor.

According to Alabi, the song is a misrepresentation of God, adding that if the composer was spirit-filled, she would understand God is more than a guarantor. “If the Holy Spirit brings it, you are supposed, to digest it, chew it and organise it, before bringing it out,” Alabi stated.

Alabi’s criticism of the song didn’t however sit well with fans, who took to social media to lambast her.

Amongst other things, the fans expressed their opinion that the gospel music star was particularly envious of Alaseyori, who appears to be her main contender in the gospel music industry.

Why I Quit Boxing For Acting -Itele d Icon

Nollywood actor, Ibrahim Yekini otherwise known as Itele d Icon has revealed that he quitted boxing for acting because of internal politics in the sports industry.

In an interview with Punch where he made this known, the movie star said at the time he was a ring boxer, he never lost any fight, adding that he stopped after a fan embarrassed him.

His words: “Yes, I was a skilled boxer before I joined the movie industry. I started boxing through someone who was like an elder brother to me. He liked me a lot and I often went to the gymnasium with him. At that time, all I wanted was to be a professional boxer. I once fought at Rowe Park in Lagos Island—a hub for boxers in those days. I fought at different tournaments because I wanted to be popular. I was a ring fighter though, not a street fighter. Unfortunately, I discovered that some people were engaged in internal politics and that spurred my decision to be an actor. When I started my acting career, I was still fighting but I stopped after a particularly embarrassing incident with a fan. My godfather advised me to stop and concentrate on acting. I had never lost a fight during my fighting days. I would have been a professional boxer if not that I was not earning enough money.”

When asked why he enjoys acting, Itele d Icon added: “Being an actor has some interesting advantages. Firstly, it gives one an identity. People trust me with contracts because I am a known face in the industry. Acting has opened many doors for me. However, everything with advantages also have disadvantages. My profession has made me very cautious of where I go and how I comport myself. It is so bad that when a motorist hits my car, I cannot argue because passers-by may recognise me.”
