Outrage As Gbenga Daniel Dumps PDP For APC

There is an outrage ongoing on social media, as Gbenga Daniel, the former governor of Ogun State and the campaign manager for the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate in the last general election, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Daniel is expected to pick up the membership card of APC before the registration of new members closes today.

In a statement addressed to members of the public, Daniel apologised to his former party for the short notice, stating that his support for Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, was a pointer.

He explained that the decision took a speedy curve with the request of the national caretaker Chairman of APC to visit him along with three governors.

“I thought I should quickly brief the house before the news goes viral,” he said.

The notice to PDP where he disclosed his intention to join the APC read in full: “Dear Friends & Colleagues, pardon my short notice in informing you of my route to the APC which as you might have suspected started with my supporting Governor Dapo Abiodun during the last election.

“I have since experienced an avalanche of encouragement to come on board.

“However in the last 48 hours, things took a dizzying speed with the decision of the APC National Chairmans request to visit me at Asoludero on Wed with about 3 Governors. While planning for the visit Governor Abiodun also decided to visit me later today with another set of Governors later today. It, therefore, means that I have finally been ‘captured’.

“I thought I should quickly brief the house before the news go viral. Thanks for your understanding.

OTUNBA GBENGA DANIELS.”

Daniels’ defection to the ruling APC has however instituted a heated debate on social media, with many people sharing their sentiments on Nigerian politics.

Fayose: PDP Will Produce Nigeria's Next President

Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, has expressed his certainty that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), would produce Nigeria’s president in the 2023 general elections.

He also said he has no interest in the rumoured presidential ambition of All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, in 2023.

Fayose’s words: “Bola Tinubu is a leader in the West. It is a statement of fact” but noted that he has not met or spoken with the former Lagos State governor in years.

“I have never met former governor Ahmed Bola Tinubu in the last three years and I have never spoken with him on the phone once. So, I don’t how they are tying the relationship politically.

“To the best of my knowledge, I am not a member of APC. I have no influence on how he will become if he wants to become. I have no interest; the only interest I have is that a PDP president must be put in place.

“If this country exists for the peace and enjoyment of all us, we will not be talking about it is APC, it is PDP…A PDP man cannot attend a function with an APC man. An APC man cannot greet a PDP man, we can’t continue like that, it shows the level of hypocrisy.”

The ex-governor of Ekiti also said he has not abandoned his ambition to be Nigeria’s president. “The office of the president is a noble one and I will love to be the president of Nigeria if the opportunity permits,” Fayose stated.

Samuel Ortom To Bala Mohammed: You Are A Terrorist

Samuel Ortom To Bala Mohammed: You Are A Terrorist

Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has profiled his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed, as a terrorist.

Addressing journalists in Makurdi, Benue, Ortom said the manner in which Mohammed defended herdsmen recking havoc across the country, has proven that he’s one of them.

He said the Bauchi governor was part of the conspiracy against him, adding that with the manner Mohammed was attacking him, his life is no longer saved.

It would be recalled that the Bauchi governor had criticised Ortom when he accused him (Ortom) of creating a bad media campaign against Fulani ethnic group, stating that the situation had worsened the herder-farmer crisis.

Mohammed had further accused Ortom of criminalising the entire Fulani across the country.

Ortom, who reacted, said with the continuous support for Fulani herdsmen, his Bauchi counterpart “is one of the Fulani terrorists” that have invaded the country and terrorising innocent Nigerians.

He, however, asked his colleague in Bauchi to go back and study his oath of office, asking if the oath of office he took did not tell him that he should protect the constitution of Nigeria.

According to him, the constitution does not allow foreigners to enter the country and bear arms against Nigerians.

Ortom said, “Since he (Bala Mohammed) has chosen to vilify and intimidate me, I am compelled to think that he is one of the Fulani terrorists terrorising this country.

“Why did I say so? This is the same governor, who took an oath of office to protect the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The constitution does not give room to allow foreign-armed Fulani herdsmen, Tiv people or Yoruba, or any ethnic group to come in and to carry arms.

“But the Bauchi governor said every Fulani man is a global man; so, he could go anywhere at any time. It is quite disappointing to hear a governor who took the oath of office to say that.”

Okorocha: Uzodinma Is No More Governing But Chasing Shadows

Okorocha: Uzodinma Is No More Governing But Chasing Shadows

Rochas Okorocha, the former governor of Imo State, said his successor, Governor Hope Uzodinma, has dumped governance and now chasing shadows.

Addressing his supporters at Spibat mansion in Owerri, the state capital, Okorocha, who now represents Imo West at the Senate, said that Uzodinma may not end well in the office.

Okorocha accounted for what happened at the Royal Spring Palm Estate, Owerri, alleging that Uzodinma sent over 1,000 thugs to attack him and his aides.

Okorocha said, “The way Governor Hope Uzodinma is going, he may not end well as governor. Insecurity is ravaging all. Over ten houses were burnt in Oguta yesterday. He knows what he is doing. He wants everybody to fear him. Instead of him to face governance and pay salaries and secure the state, he is busy chasing shadows of violence.”

The Senator called on the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, to immediately arrest Uzodinma’s Special Adviser on Special Duties, Chinasa Nwaneri, and the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Youth Affairs, Eric Uwakwe, who he alleged led thugs to attack him at the estate.

Okorocha said, “I immediately call on the Inspector-General of Police to immediately arrest Chinasa Nwaneri and Eric Uwakwe. They are the aides of Governor Hope Uzodinma. They shot my aides and destroyed all my cars. If the police can’t arrest Chinasa Nwaneri who the bad record is known for, they have no right to arrest any citizen of this country. As a senator, I am going to put a formal petition to that effect.

“Hope Uzodinma wants to rule Imo State by intimidation. He is busy demolishing all my projects without building anyone. Uzodinma has taken a personal attack on me and my family. Uzodinma has reported to the EFCC and ICPC and there are probes against me yet he is bent on fighting me.

“Uzodinma used the police against me yesterday (Sunday). I, therefore, call on the IGP to probe the actions of the Government house, Owerri policemen. Their actions were questionable. Chinasa Nwaneri shot my aide and my son-in-law, Uzor Anwuka.

“Everybody knows that I was not poor before I became governor. Talking about the estate, I was the one who begged my wife to come back home and invest in our state so that our people will have employment.

“More than 200 gunshots were shot at my aides yesterday. Uzodinma must be called to question. The governor was using his position to aid thuggery. Before I went that estate on Sunday, I called the CP and the Director of DSS and they said they were not aware of the sealing of the estate, therefore, I went there to find those who sealed the estate without the approval of the police and the DSS and moreover, there was no court order. Uzodinma should not take my peaceful disposition for granted.”
